Eco Church

St Mary and All Saints is a registered Eco Church -  a learning community of churches of all shapes and sizes open to all denominations. Eco Church provides a framework to support our church and leadership team to take practical action on caring for God’s earth.

In our current list of projects we are:

Working with the local council to manage the mowing regime in the churchyard to maximise the benefit of the ancient meadowland between the gravestones.

Planning a wildflower area within the churchyard to increase the biodeversity onsite.  We hope to extend our bug hotel and hedgehog stations with bat boxes and bird boxes.

Recycling

We have realised that one of the difficulties with recycling is knowing the best place locally to process your waste.  Here is a short list of specialist items and how they are dealt with in the local area:

Batteries: leave in small bag on top of your blue recycling bin
Plastic bags: larger supermarkets, e.g. Waitrose or Sainsburys
Small electrical goods: leave on top of your blue recycling bin
Blister packs for Medication: at St Mary's
